So who is Siri? You could ask her, but you are probably better off sooking it up in Wikipedia.
Siri uses Wolfram Alpha and probably Samsung’s S Voice does too. Which is pretty amazing. (Google Now just hands off the search phrase to Google search engine, which is nice, but a lot less impressive.)

Siri is a spinoff of CALO (Cognitive Assistant that Learns and Organizes). (“CALO attempted to integrate numerous AI technologies” “CALO was funded by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) under its Personalized Assistant that Learns (PAL) program.”)
